This article examines the theoretical and practical aspects of criminal punishments related to isolation from society in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Particular attention is paid to Article 43 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which establishes the system of punishments. The study identifies issues related to the excessive use of imprisonment and the insufficient differentiation of punishments. Based on a comparative legal analysis of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the article proposes the introduction of expulsion as a new type of criminal punishment for foreign citizens and stateless persons. The advantages, possible risks, and prospects of implementing this measure in the national legal system are substantiated.
