Although it was not warmly received by the scientific community of its time, Ahmad Zaki's work "Punctuation and Punctuation Marks of the Arabic Language" is recognized as the first work that officially acknowledged the great need for using punctuation marks in Arabic, affirmed that punctuation marks are an integral part of the Arabic language, and developed rules for the use of punctuation marks.
