Internet use has become commonplace for billions of people around the world. The rapid development of technologies, particularly mobile devices, has made it possible to communicate anywhere and at any time. At the same time, concerns are growing about people’s behavior on the Internet, particularly in relation to one another and to social groups in general. This raises the issue of human rights in today’s information society. This article focuses on such human rights as the right to privacy, confidentiality, freedom of expression, and others. To demonstrate the factors in the formation and development of human rights in the context of digitalization, systematic, factual, formal, and legal methods were used. Thus, it is concluded that the technological development of social communications has created a basis for the legal resolution of issues of privacy and freedom of thought on the Internet. At the same time, jurisdictions address issues relating to each aspect of human rights on the Internet on the basis of existing norms, case law, and legal principles. In conclusion, legislation on human rights on the Internet is being actively developed in order to ensure a balance between private and public interests, safe online access, and unhindered access to it.
