This scientific article is devoted to the study of sociolinguistic and pragmatic characteristics of euphemisms in communicative texts in Spanish. The article analyzes the linguistic composition of euphemisms, and social and pragmatic functions implemented with their help. Euphemisms in Spanish are often used to soften uncomfortable or taboo topics in society and to express and discuss social rules. The study shows how euphemisms reflect social strata and interactions in a given society. Their pragmatic goals and communicative tasks will also be considered, in particular such as mitigating unpleasant connotations, avoiding contradictions, and maintaining communicative respect. This analysis helps to understand how the methods of euphemism in Spanish affect society and culture.
