This article provides a comparative analysis of how irony and humor function as stylistic devices in modern English and Uzbek fiction. While English writers tend to use irony as a subtle instrument for psychological exploration, social criticism, and intellectual wit, Uzbek authors often rely on culturally grounded humor rooted in oral tradition, communal values, and character-driven narration. The study highlights differences in narrative techniques, cultural symbolism, and the social purposes of humor in both literatures. At the same time, it identifies shared features, such as the use of satire to expose contradictions and the role of humor in revealing human imperfections. The analysis demonstrates that irony and humor not only enrich narrative texture but also reflect broader cultural worldviews and evolving social dynamics in English and Uzbek modern prose.
