The family is a unit of society, the well-being of which directly affects the development of society and the state as a whole. However, peace and order do not always reign in the family. Unfortunately, in some families, there is so-called family (domestic) violence, which with an invisible shadow destroys family peace and well-being. For an in-depth study of the causes and consequences of family violence, in this article the author makes an attempt to analyze the legal essence of this phenomenon. The forms of domestic violence are also disclosed by the adopted regulatory legal acts. In addition, the theoretical and applied aspects of this topic are considered, and an appropriate conclusion is drawn.
