This article analyzes the distinctive role of digital platforms in competition law, emphasizing their growing importance across all sectors of the economy. In particular, it identifies the key criteria for determining whether digital platforms have engaged in anti-competitive conduct and examines the legislative innovations required in this area. The analysis demonstrates that, in order to identify anti-competitive behavior by digital trading platforms, it is essential first to define relevant market boundaries and to consider new analytical concepts such as network effects, the doctrine of essential facilities, and related approaches. On this basis, the article substantiates the need to determine a specific model of unfair competition characteristic of digital markets.
