Modern technological advancement is deeply permeating almost all spheres of human activity. From this perspective, developing students’ engineering-related knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies through the subject of Technology is of great importance. This article provides a scientific and theoretical analysis of the processes from knowledge acquisition to competence formation within the context of technological education, including pedagogical and psychological mechanisms, practical exercises, and competency assessment criteria. Various types of engineering competencies, their structure, and stages of development are also examined in detail. The research findings contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of technological education and optimizing the training process of engineering specialists.
