This article analyzes the issues of criminal liability for bribery using examples from states belonging to different legal families. The matter of responsibility for bribery in the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States has been studied based on scientific and theoretical analyses. Additionally, the concept of bribery in the Romano-Germanic and Anglo-Saxon legal systems is examined, highlighting their specific aspects through a comparative analysis of the punishments stipulated in the legislation for committing this offense. The findings of this article serve as a primary theoretical and practical resource for evaluating the effectiveness of anti-corruption legislation and for its improvement.
