The article analyzes the theoretical and legal foundations, concept, and essence of house arrest as a legal institution. Various scholars' definitions of house arrest have been comparatively studied, revealing its legal nature. The role and significance of house arrest in the criminal procedural legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as its constitutional foundations, are examined. The historical development of the house arrest institution and its current state are also evaluated.
