This article presents a comparative analysis of the effectiveness of cryptographic and steganographic methods in the process of covert information transmission in a digital environment. During the study, the operating principles, advantages, and limitations of these two fundamental approaches to information protection are examined in detail. The mechanisms of information encryption using cryptography and data hiding using steganography are evaluated in terms of confidentiality, resistance to detection, and computational complexity. In addition, the applicability of these methods in modern digital communication channels is analyzed, along with the issues of enhancing information security through their combined use.
