In the course of the present study, a hypothesis was put forward and tested that the national legislation of Uzbekistan regulating legal relations between the state, citizens, journalists and the media has been brought into sufficient compliance with international standards in this area, but the practice of its application is significantly lagging behind. The theoretical method of comparative analysis of international and national standards in the studied area was used as the basic one. To determine the dynamics of Uzbekistan's position in the rating of the non-governmental organization Reporters Without Borders, the method of statistical analysis of data for the 10-year period 2015-2024 was used.
