During the study, through studying the results of sociological surveys, analyzing publications (broadcasts) of professional media and scientific works, shortcomings in the level of information and media literacy of the population of Uzbekistan were identified. The relevance of the study is due to the growing spread of both unreliable information and purposefully produced fake news associated with the escalation of international conflicts, such as the armed confrontation between Russia and Ukraine that began in 2022 and the war between Hamas and Israel in 2023. In work attention is paid to the basic models of media research management in order to develop recommendations that include expanding the range of information sources, acquiring critical thinking and fact-checking skills.
