This article explores the pivotal role of context in the construction of pragmatic meaning in English. It analyzes how physical, linguistic, social, and cultural contexts influence the interpretation of utterances beyond their literal meaning. The study draws on pragmatic theories and authentic discourse examples to demonstrate how meaning is co-constructed between speakers and listeners. It also highlights the implications for second language teaching and cross-cultural communication.
