The article studies the evolution of the concept of “information” from its etymological roots to the modern legal definition in different jurisdictions. The article analyzes the historical stages of formation of scientific understanding of information, the contribution of key researchers in the development of information theory, as well as the features of legal regulation of information relations in the legislation of the United States, Russia, the European Union, China, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. On the basis of comparative analysis of international experience recommendations on the implementation of the concept of information in the Civil Code of Uzbekistan are proposed, taking into account the national peculiarities of the legal system and strategic priorities of the country's development. Legal, economic and social aspects of regulation of information relations in the context of formation of information society and development of digital economy are considered.
