Modern information technologies undoubtedly have a significant impact on public relations, resulting in the emergence of new socio-legal relations. Legal science is faced with the problem of its classification and legal regulation by characteristics and features. As a result of the development of e-commerce, purchase and sale relations are carried out remotely, by concluding online contracts. The article considers the legal status of online platforms acting as intermediaries in the conclusion of online contracts. Currently, various debates and discussions are underway around the legal status of information intermediaries. The European Union adopts directives, laws, and other documents that regulate the activities of information intermediaries. We are faced with the question: "Who is an information intermediary?" "What is the status of online platforms as information intermediaries in civil legal relations?" The question of finding answers to these questions remains open. The article analyzes the legal relations between information intermediaries, in particular online platforms, and sellers and buyers. The study was conducted using the comparative analysis method, mainly based on European Union directives. Case law examples on the liability of online platforms are presented and analyzed.
