The article emphasizes the importance of correctly and fully understanding the legal nature of the concept of public service in developing this field. To achieve this, attention is focused on distinguishing this type of service from other services, particularly public services and social services, while highlighting their intersecting aspects. The history of public services' origin and approaches in developed countries have been examined. The article explores the interrelationship and correlation between public service and state functions, as well as administrative procedures. As a result of the analysis, the author provides their own definition of the concept of public service.
