This article examines the role of the Sogdians as intermediaries in Khwarezm’s international trade along the Silk Road. During its period of prosperity, Khwarezm was an important center of international trade and occupied a significant position within the network of Silk Road routes. The Silk Road was a unique phenomenon in the history of human civilization, reflecting the development of long-distance exchange and facilitating interactions among peoples, cultures, and markets across Eurasia. As an extensive network of transcontinental trade routes, it connected different regions of Europe and Asia and enabled the circulation not only of goods but also of ideas, technologies, and cultural traditions.
