Relevance. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the leading cause of visual impairment and preventable blindness in working-age individuals in developed countries. Despite numerous scientific advances, drug prevention of asymptomatic and early-stage DR using modern technologies has not been developed. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an electronic drug prevention program for DR in patients with type 2 diabetes without DR and at various risk groups for developing DR. Materials and Methods. A total of 81 patients (n=162 eyes) with type 2 diabetes were examined. All patients were divided into two homogeneous groups: the control group and the study group. Results and Conclusion. The study revealed negative dynamics in the perifoveal blood flow density (BF) of the «inferior hemi» deep choroid plexus (DCP), the Vsist blood flow in the posterior choroidal artery, and the BDNF and VEGF parameters in the SF after a course of traditional treatment. Positive results were obtained when studying OCT-A, ultrasound, BDNF, and VEGF parameters during treatment with calcium dobesilate, which were higher than baseline values. Analysis of the study results demonstrated the high efficacy of drug prophylaxis in patients with type 2 diabetes without DR.
