Relevance. Burn disease of the eye can be defined as a set of clinical, biochemical, immunological disorders that develop at the local and systemic level from the first days and persist for many years after a severe burn injury to the eye. Recurrent epithelial corneal erosion is a disease that occurs with periods of remission and exacerbation, characterized by the formation of an epithelial corneal defect in the same place. The outcome of the disease can be both a state of complete recovery, and long-term non-healing erosion, up to corneal perforation in the case of a complicated advanced course.
