Annotatsiya

The long stay of prisoners in penal institutions (PI) in conditions of severe restrictions and sometimes tense interpersonal relationships leads to a decrease in the body's compensatory mechanisms and a violation of the adaptive capabilities of prisoners. The оbjective of the study is to study the characteristics of vegetative disorders in the conditions of the penitentiary system. Research materials and methods. 73 people suffering from various clinical forms and stages of vegetative disorders were examined in the PI system. The average age of the convicts-patients was 42,31±11,4 years. The control group included 12 almost healthy people serving their sentences in PIF institutions (average age – 32,14±5,21). To identify and assess signs of vegetative disorders, we used the A.M. Wayne scale, the Kerdo index, and the Torontand Hamilton coefficient. Results. The main results of the study of the vegetative state were found to be significantly higher in convicted persons than in the control and comparison groups. The Toront and Hamilton coefficient was close to the norm for all subjects, and 20,8% of convicted persons showed small differences in the studied indicators, but the reliability of the differences with socially adapted individuals was noted. When analyzing the Kerdo index, vegetative imbalance was detected in almost all individuals. A negative correlation was noted between the duration of the convicts' stay in the penitentiary system and the questionnaire indicators (SR= – 0,36; p=0,01). A significant decrease in vegetative diseases was noted in the 3rd year of the convicts' stay in the penitentiary system. Conclusion. The development and manifestation of psychovegetative syndrome due to prolonged stress in persons held in a mental institution is significantly higher in the first year than in socially adapted individuals, regresses within 3 years, but increases again at the end of the sentence.
