Neurological manifestations are not leading in the clinical picture of diseases caused by coronaviruses. Nevertheless, there is evidence of possible lesions of the nervous system and their role in the development of respiratory, sensory, motor, autonomic and other disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system. The structural features of the SARS-CoV-2 virion determine the possible affinity for a number of receptors expressed on the membrane of nerve cells; evidence has been obtained for the presence of viral proteins or genetic material in nerve tissue. Also, the course of existing neurological diseases may worsen, in connection with which the publication provides the main recommendations on the tactics of managing certain groups of patients with diseases of the nervous system, developed by leading foreign and domestic professional communities.
