This article analyzes demographic changes in the cities of the Fergana Valley in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries based on historical and statistical sources. Following the abolition of the Kokand Khanate by the Russian Empire and the establishment of the Fergana Region, significant changes occurred in the administrative, socio-economic and demographic structure of the region. The article examines population growth, settlement patterns, internal and external migration, the resettlement of the Russian population, and changes in the ethnic composition of the cities of Kokand, Margilan, Andijan, Namangan, Osh, Chust and New Margilan. Particular attention is paid to the impact of railway construction, the development of trade and industry, and the formation of new administrative centers on demographic processes in the region.
