The article is devoted to the study of the transformational influence and cultural continuity of the Timurid period Herat bookbinding school traditions on the bookmaking environment of Mavarannahr (Bukhara, Samarkand) in the 16th–17th centuries. The research examines the continuation of Herat traditions in the libraries of the Shaybanids and Janids (Ashtarkhanids), specifically highlighting the contributions of masters like the disciples of Sultan Ali Mashhadi, calligrapher Amir Ali Husayni, and artist Mahmud Muzahhib. Through a comparative analysis of the artistic designs on bindings of specific manuscripts preserved in local and international collections, the paper scientifically demonstrates the synthesis of traditional Herat and Mughal-Indian styles, as well as the technological evolution of lacquer bookbinding during this period.
