This article examines the development of Russian-German diplomatic rivalry in the Middle East in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The study focuses on the intensification of competition between the Russian and German Empires in the region, which was aggravated by the expansion of German political and economic influence. Particular attention is paid to the Baghdad Railway project, the Persian Question, and diplomatic negotiations aimed at resolving contradictions between the Great Powers. The article analyzes the impact of the Anglo-Russian Convention of 1907, the Potsdam negotiations of 1910, and the Russo-German Agreement of 1911 on the balance of power in the Middle East. It also explores the role of railway concessions, economic expansion, and diplomatic initiatives in shaping interstate relations. Drawing upon diplomatic correspondence, memoirs, and scholarly literature, the study demonstrates that the rivalry between Russia and Germany extended beyond regional issues and constituted an important element of the broader struggle for influence within the international system on the eve of the First World War.
