Annotatsiya

The article is devoted to the history of Afghanistan in the period of the Anglo-Afghan wars. It was in the middle of the XIX century that Afghanistan became an object of rivalry between major European states for the establishment of their monopoly influence in the region.  Diplomatic and military missions of Russia and Great Britain were sent to the country, which resulted in two Anglo-Afghan wars. Russia was unable to provide assistance to Afghanistan in this region and under the Anglo-Russian agreement the country fell under the sphere of influence of England
