This article analyzes the content of the most important directives adopted in order to unify the legislation of the EU member states on investment funds established and operating in the territory of the European Union. EU directives create conditions for the harmonious development of investment funds established in the region. Member countries are also encouraged to align their national legislation with the directives. The first part of the article analyzes the need to adopt EU directives, the issue of issuing a single European passport for investment funds. The second part of the article analyzes the experience of Luxembourg and its achievements, which were among the first to implement EU directives into their national legislation. The third part of the article examines CIKAVs, a special type of joint-stock company - the most convenient organizational and legal form for investment funds established as a legal entity. The fourth part of the article analyzes the content of the five important directives of the European Union regulating the activities of investment funds and makes a comparative analysis with the norms of national legislation. The concluding part of the article develops proposals and recommendations for improving national legislation on the experience of the European Union in the organization and legal regulation of investment funds.
