Coins depicting rulers discovered in the Tashkent oasis, known in the pre-Islamic period as Chach, confirm that they were minted under the Western Türkic Qaghanate. In particular, these coins bear Sogdian inscriptions such as pny ’krt twrk x’γ’n (“coin struck by the Türkic Qaghan”) and nyβwr twrk x’γ’n (“Nivur? Türk-Qaghan”) on coins featuring a horseman. The reading of these titles leaves no doubt as to their association with the Qaghan ate. In recent years, it has been established that similar inscription (Jabghu Türk-Qaghan) also occur on coins from the Ferghana Valley, which brings to the forefront the necessity of revisiting several issues related to the history of the Qaghanate.
