The ancient period of the region covered the stages of formation, development, decline and cessation of the existence of the Ancient Fergana State (Davan). The article shows the processes of urbanization of the region and the development of various branches of crafts that occurred under the influence of the consistent internal policy of this centralized state. The latter represented the main factors and essence of the development of ancient Fergana. These data were scientifically substantiated by comparing the accumulated material, according to the results of new field studies. A critical analysis of the findings of previous archaeological studies was also carried out to identify the characteristic stages of development of the ancient period. The presented new archaeological studies cover 2014-2024 and include the results of excavations over the past ten seasons. During this time, field studies were carried out in the settlements of Koshtepa-2, Sultanabad-3 and Sultansupa, as well as the burial ground of Khanabad-1 and the settlement of Khanabad-3 in the Andijan region. The obtained samples of material culture made it possible to generalize the main factors of urbanization of the region and the high development of crafts. This scientific presentation presents the results of a comparative analysis of new artifacts with samples of material culture from other monuments of the valley and neighboring historical and cultural regions.
