Annotatsiya

The article examines the scientific study of certain ceramic vessels discovered in the Pop district of the Fergana Valley and their historical and cultural significance. Particular attention is given to the typology of the ceramics, production techniques, dating, and their connections with neighboring regions. In archaeology, ceramic artifacts frequently serve as primary sources for identifying cultural layers and establishing chronological frameworks. The study of medieval ceramics from the Fergana Valley highlights the work of scholars such as A. N. Bernshtam, N. G. Gorbunova, G. A. Brikina, A. A. Anarbayev, and B. Kh. Matboboyev. However, new data on early medieval pottery production remain insufficiently explored using modern technologies, including radiocarbon analysis and interdisciplinary approaches. The ceramic materials analyzed in this research were found at sites such as Munchoqtepa, Temirkasmoqtepa. These artifacts demonstrate connections between various early medieval cultures in Uzbekistan. The vessels discovered at these sites are mainly characterized by spherical and oval shapes, with some featuring spouts. The shapes and decorative elements of these ceramics indicate the Fergana Valley’s connections with regions such as Sogd, Bactria, Chach, and Semirechye. These findings provide valuable information about the culture of the Fergana Valley in the early Middle Ages and open up opportunities to study the region’s rich archaeological heritage. The integration of advanced analytical techniques promises to enhance our understanding of these sites.
