Archaeological excavations in Namangan region in recent years have revealed many archeologicalsites. Among them, a large number of hums were observed in various areas, including residential areas. The article describes the set of hums found in Chartak, Pop and Turakurgan districts and notes theirspecific features. This collection of hums has been compared in recent years with the hums found inSamarkand and Surkhandarya regions, and they have been recognized as a food depot of ancient times. The frequent occurrence of hums in this period was explained by the development of irrigated agriculturein ancient times, the widespread use of water mills, cotton varieties, the expansion of agriculturalareas, the growth of agricultural production. It was concluded that agricultural products were stored inspecial places - food warehouses, where grain products, various liquids, including wine products werestored. Residential settlements were recorded around all areas where hum remains were identified, andthe number of hums was noted to be proportional to the size of these settlements.
