The article deals with the history of sedentary agrarian cultures of the Eastern Aral Sea region, which needs tobe studied given the influence of the hydrographic factor caused by its close connection with the functioning ofthe Amudarya and Syrdarya delta channels. The ancient delta of the Syrdarya had four channel systems, namelyInkardarya, Zhanadarya, Kuvandarya, and Prakuvandarya. It was found that the southern, Inkardarya channelsystem, and the northernmost, Prakuvandarya channel system, functioned already in the Neolithic and Bronze Ages.In the Early Iron Age, Saka tribes settled in the ancient Syrdarya delta. In the second half of the 1 st millennium BC,the watering regime of the southern delta channels changed. Probably already in the middle of the 1st millenniumBC, some sections of the watercourse disappeared in the middle reaches of the Inkardarya, primarily in its southernchannel. At the same time, a more straightened latitudinal channel of the Zhanadarya was formed. In the southernpart of the delta, on the latitudinal channels of the Zhanadarya and the oxbow lakes of the Inkardarya, favorableconditions were created to form a sedentary agrarian and pastoral culture, of which the economy was based ontranshumance and irrigation farming. Such a culture was the Chirikrabat archaeological culture, which, accordingto researchers, was formed on the basis of the culture of the Saka population. Along with this, its formation wasinfluenced by the ancient agrarian cultures of Central Asia.
