Annotatsiya

It is known that the Kuturbulak monument was first discovered in 1971 by the Middle-Zarafshan archaeologicalteam under the leadership of Y.F. Buryakov. The monument was investigated by N.H. Toshkenboyev in 1971-1972 seasons. The main attention of the expedition was paid to the study of Kuturbulak, as the cultural layersof Zirabulak were damaged as a result of construction works in historical times. Kuturbulak is located 100km west of Samarkand, at the foot of the Zirabulak Mountains. Excavations at the monument uncovered 165m2 of area at the monument. During the period of independence, research was conducted by internationalpartner expeditions, including those of Uzbekistan-Poland (1994–1995) and Uzbekistan-Russia (2002) at theKuturbulak monument. This article focuses on the study of stone artifacts from Kuturbulak, recovered fromthe 1970s to the 1990s, based on the Levallois technological method. It is established that all three variants ofthe Levallois technique (levallois detachment, sharp and plate) prevailed in the monument. Their quantitativeindicators allow to include Kuturbulak in the Levalloisian facies of the Middle Paleolithic.
