In this study, the linear and nonlinear optical properties of a cubic InAs quantum dot embeddedwithin an InP/InAs0.25P0.75/InP heterostructured nanowire were theoretically investigated.Considering quantum confinement effects for electrons, the energy levels, intersubband opticaltransition energies, dipole matrix elements, optical absorption coefficients, and refractive indexvariations were analyzed as functions of the geometrical parameters. Additionally, the secondharmonic generation (SHG) and third harmonic generation (THG) intensities were calculatedin relation to photon energy. The results show that the relative size ratio (b/a) between thequantum dot and the nanowire core has a significant influence on the optical and nonlinearresponses of the system. These findings demonstrate that by precisely controlling the geometricparameters, it is possible to effectively tune the optical properties of the structure, providingvaluable information for the design of nano-optoelectronic devices such as quantum dotlasers, photodetectors, and optical modulators.
