This article is devoted to the history and development of the tax system of the Khiva Khanate, the main attention in the article is paid to the peculiarities of the tax system during the reign of the Khiva Khan Muhammad Rakhimkhan I (1806-1825) and is analyzed on the basis of historical sources. It also discusses the financial situation of the Khiva Khanate during the reign of the Khiva Khan Muhammad Rakhimkhan I, the state of the state treasury and the general state of the tax system, the types and amount of taxes levied on the population. There is also information about the taxes levied on the Karakalpaks, which were subordinated to the Khiva Khanate during the reign of Muhammad Rakhimkhan I, their amount and the deterioration of living conditions due to increased taxes and other payments.
