Numerous studies have shown that active tuberculosis is detected in patients with diabetes mellitus 3-11 times more often than in the rest of the population. Currently, there are 246 million patients with diabetes mellitus in the world, about 50% of them are 30-59 years old, working and reproductive age. WHO experts predict that by 2030 this figure will be 380 million people, given the rapid growth of the population with the so-called "metabolic syndrome", overweight or obesity. Purpose of the study: to improve the effectiveness of complex antibacterial and surgical treatment of patients with complicated forms of tuberculous spondylitis and diabetes mellitus. Materials and methods of the study: 65 (35 male (53.8%) and 30 female (46.2%)) patients with tuberculous spondylitis were examined in the Department of Bone and Joint Tuberculosis of Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Phthisiology and Pulmonology in 2023-2024. Mean age was 50 to 70 years. Results: Positive dynamics were observed in 44 patients after complex treatment for 8 weeks. The course of tuberculous spondylitis and the effectiveness of treatment in the groups with and without diabetes mellitus did not differ.
