The spectrum of dental diseases during chemoradiotherapy includes mucositis of varying severity, xerostomia, caries, periodontitis, fungal infections, and other pathological conditions. The mechanisms for the development of these complications are multifactorial and are related to both the direct cytotoxic effect of chemotherapy drugs and ionizing radiation on the oral mucosa, as well as to secondary effects, including disruption of the microbiocenosis, decreased local immunity, and changes in the composition and properties of saliva. Despite the high clinical and social significance of this problem, the issues of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of dental diseases in oncology patients remain insufficiently studied and require a further systematic approach.
