The article presents an analysis of the activities of scientific schools of the Altai StatePedagogical University. The main results and achievements of the research teams of the universityare considered in the aspect of the innovative development of the university. Conclusions are madeabout the importance of the principle of combining traditional and innovative in the development ofscien-tific activities of a pedagogical university and the system of higher education in general.
