Human papillomavirus infection is the most common viral infection of the reproductive tract and can cause cervical cancer in women, other cancers and genital warts in both men and women. The article describes the epidemiological situation in a retrospective aspect, discusses the experience of using vaccines against human papillomavirus in the world, the CIS countries and the Republic of Kazakhstan, the results of research work on the success of this vaccine. According to WHO, in 2018 new cases of cervical cancer accounted for 3.2% of all cancers in the world, which justifies the priority of studying this problem. The cited authors note the oncogenic potential of genotypes 16 and 18 of papillomavirus in the occurrence of approximately 70% of all cases of invasive cervical cancer worldwide. Vaccine prophylaxis has been proven to be effective and safe as a promising primary approach to cancer prevention, and barriers to vaccine access must be removed to achieve vaccination goals
