This article examines the historical stages of formation and development of the modern institution of constitutional control in Kazakhstan. The institution of constitutional control is a dynamic phenomenon that undergoes various rapid transformations within the state. Determining the characteristics of legal regulation of constitutional control in the country is impossible without analyzing the processes of constitutional development. The establishment of the institution of constitutional control in Kazakhstan is directly linked to the formation of legal systems, legal institutions, and mechanisms for regulating state power. An analysis of the normative legal acts related to the establishment and development of the institution of constitutional control in the Republic of Kazakhstan has allowed us to trace the legal continuity and development trends of this institution. It should be noted that the main foundation for organizing the activities of constitutional control bodies was formed during the period of Soviet-era constitutions. After the Republic of Kazakhstan gained sovereignty, subsequent stages in the development of the institution of constitutional control followed, in accordance with the prevailing historical conditions. Summarizing the analysis of constitutional legislation conducted to reveal the features of the historical formation and development of constitutional control in the Republic of Kazakhstan, it is possible to identify several stages in the development of the institution of constitutional control in the Republic of Kazakhstan: the stage of Soviet statehood; the transitional stage; the stage of forming the constitutional foundations of the Kazakh model of constitutional control; and the modern period of development of the institution of constitutional control.
