This article analyzes the hierarchical classification of lexical units in Uzbek synonym dictionaries and the methodology for its formation from a scientific and theoretical perspective. The hierarchical classification of synonyms according to their semantic proximity, methodological load, scope of application, and expressive-emotional value is of great importance in the process of dictionary creation. The article deeply studies the methods of organizing synonymous series, practical approaches in lexicography, and existing experiences based on these criteria. Also, the existing synonym dictionaries in the Uzbek language are analyzed, and the extent to which the principles of hierarchy are consistently applied in them is analyzed. The article substantiates the need for a scientifically based, systematic, and functional approach to the creation of synonym dictionaries based on the methodological approaches put forward in the article.
