This article focuses on the use of metaphors as a cognitive aid for comprehending abstract notions and explores the fundamental ideas of conceptual metaphor theory (CMT). It investigates the ways in which metaphor influences mental processes, makes language easier to explain, and helps to create meaning in both ordinary and scientific speech. The article highlights the value of metaphorical thinking in interdisciplinary domains including psychology, artificial intelligence, and education and talks about current advancements in the study of metaphor.
