The article discusses the problem of preserving the author’s style in translations from English into Uzbek using O. Henry’s stories as an example, analyzes shortcomings and ways to eliminate them. In particular, the main shortcomings include poor knowledge of the original language, incomplete understanding of the semantic nuances of the translated text, and the inability of translators to recreate the work in their native language due to the lack of literary skills.
