This article explores the poetic phenomenon of tahmis based on the ghazals of Alisher Navoi, a prominent representative of classical Turkic literature. Tahmis—the addition of three lines to each couplet of a classical ghazal—serves as a form of poetic homage and creative dialogue with the original text. The article analyzes stylistic and thematic features of the tahmis tradition, its artistic function, and the way in which poets engage with Navoi’s legacy. Special attention is paid to intertextuality, poetic imitation, and the preservation of cultural and linguistic richness through this form.
