The current article presents the main similarities and differences between a novel Finnish approach to learning called phenomenon-based learning and other learning approaches including action-based approach, task-based approach, problem-based learning, inquiry-based learning, communicative language teaching approach, and project-based approach. The comparative analysis has been given through the different perspectives of researchers highlighting the main characteristics of each learning approach. Also, it sheds light on the tenets of humanistic psychology unifying all those learning approaches and focusing on learner-centeredness.
