Currently, career models for civil servants working in government agencies are being revised.In this regard, it is important to gradually develop their professional and personal competencies in theprocess of career growth. The article presents the results of a study aimed at studying thecompetencies required by public administration officials. For public administration bodies, thedevelopment and implementation of special competencies along with general ones cannot butinfluence the effectiveness of their activities. The article also examines the stages of development ofthe competency-based approach in our country
