The article covers the issues of conflict of interest in the state civil service, its theoreticalaspects and the fight against it. In particular, the approaches of scientists to the conflict of interest,contradictions arising in the course of performing official powers (duties), as well as the issues of thestruggle between personal and public motivations are sociologically revealed. The legal norms of thelocal (republican) and foreign (Anglo-Saxon and Romano-Germanic) models in this area, theirsociological aspects and distinctive properties are analyzed. The specified issues are covered inconjunction with the data of official sources and questionnaires, and corresponding proposals forimproving the area are put forward.
