Annotatsiya

This article presents a comparative linguistic analysis of the morphological features of sports terms in the English and Uzbek languages. The study examines word-formation processes of sports-related terminology, including affixation, compound words, and abbreviated forms, as well as their grammatical structure. It is revealed that sports terms in English are mainly formed through affixes and compound constructions, whereas in Uzbek the development of sports terminology is largely enriched through affixation and translation-based borrowings. In addition, the article highlights issues related to the adaptation of international sports terms into the Uzbek language, their morphological transformations, and integration into national linguistic norms. The research findings are of significant scientific and practical value for the systematic study of sports terminology, translation practice, and linguistic research.
