The term “landscape” in literary criticism possesses a multi-layered semantic content, and its formation is inextricably linked to historical processes in the visual arts. Landscape lyrics are a specific manifestation of poetic thinking, in which the poet expresses their feelings, worldview, and aesthetic ideal through nature imagery. Consequently, this type of lyricism emerges as a significant theoretical problem in literary studies that requires profound analysis not only in terms of content but also regarding its formal and artistic-aesthetic functions. This article explores the distinctive characteristics of modernism as a literary movement, its reflection in Uzbek poetry, and its approach to the phenomenon of landscape. The research discusses the departure from traditional representational methods, the subjective perception of existence, and the concept of the "spiritual landscape," while engaging with the theoretical perspectives of prominent philosophers and literary scholars. Key features of landscape in modern poetry – such as symbolism, fragmentariness (disintegration), existential anxiety, and absurdity – are analyzed through the nature imagery in Abduvali Qutbiddin’s poetry. The author provides a scholarly justification that nature details serve as a mirror reflecting the inner emotions of the lyrical protagonist. Furthermore, the findings prove that in modern poetry, nature (imagery, landscape) is less a reflection of objective reality and more a poetic phenomenon reflecting the contradictory states of human consciousness.
