This article discusses the methodology for developing functional literacy in primary school students. The essence of functional literacy, its role in the modern educational process, and the features of its formation in young students are scientifically analyzed. The article shows the role of literary texts, interactive methods, and modern information technologies in developing students' reading, writing, listening comprehension, and communication competencies. Also, the teacher's methodological approaches, innovative strategies, and national and international experiences in developing functional literacy are comparatively studied. The results of the research are aimed at increasing the effectiveness of education in primary school students, forming independent thinking, and expanding the opportunities for applying practical knowledge to everyday life.
